A
U.S. Masters set-neck goes beyond the attention of "Hand Made".
Each instrument receives close personal
attention and care throughout the production and setup process to insure
a high performance, quality instrument. The design requires highly precise
machining for the neck fitting, fret slot placement, parts, etc. Where
handwork is too inconsistent to attain this type of precision we use
precise cnc routing. Yet, a great deal of handwork is incorporated in
each instrument. The marriage of precision equipment with "hand
made" techniques allows us to attain the precision and consistency
we require with the result that you will notice in your hands - an instrument
with feel, an instrument that sings.
Made In The U.S.A.
The look and feel of a set-neck guitar is undeniable. Over the years
we have made a lot of set-neck guitars for other companies, well known
for their quality of build. We spent a lot of time evaluating these
guitars and others over the years before we developed our set-neck designs.
We've made set-necks with different neck woods. The neck that stood
out the most was made from maple. The low end and classic "set-neck"
warmth remained but when you got more aggressive with picking the guitar
had more attack and more bite in the high end. Plus the neck had a real
nice feel, solid and for a lack of a better way to term it, instrumental
feeling. The neck was also more resistant to bending out of tune like
a standard mahogany neck. All of this we liked. However, we didn't like
the look as much. The transition from the mahogany body to the maple
neck did not look as good as mahogany to mahogany under the nice trasparent
finishes. It lost the classic look. The solution was simple.
Replace the heart of the mahogany neck with quartersawn maple and leave
the visible "skin" as mahogany. The maple extends from the
tip of the heel to the tip of the headstock, under the faceplate. We
call this our MapleCore Neck. All the benefits with the classic look.
