Lead guitarist for Atlantic recording artist, Brett Eldredge
Jamie has always had a passion for music. He grew up in Mississippi
amidst a family of musicians, so it was natural for him to pick up an
instrument and play it almost instantly and effortlessly. His dad was
a singer/guitar player, and Jamie's first major musical influence. Jamie,
the youngest of 5 brothers, picked up the guitar at the age of 9 and never
took a formal lesson, only what he learned from his dad and brothers who
were already accomplished musicians.
Within months of learning the fundamentals, he made the first of many
TV appearances performing with his family on a local TV station in Tupelo,
MS. Jamie continued to sharpen his craft "the old school way",
listening and studying his guitar hero's in his bedroom. Jamie's major
guitar influences came mainly from session players who played on the music
he grew up on in the country, rock, and pop music arenas, some of them
include session legends Brent Mason, Dann Huff, Michael Landau, and Steve
Lukather, just to name a few.
Jamie has been very fortunate to make a living with his gift, but not
without the ups and downs that all musicians go through. He's been playin'
guitar for 30 years now, and has had some wonderful opportunities come
his way!
Jamie has played lead guitar alongside multi platinum selling artists
in country music, such as national recording artists Darryl Worley,
Billy Currington, and currently newcomer, Brett
Eldredge. This past year he toured all over the country with Brett,
opening for some of the biggest names in country music. Few musicians
are lucky and blessed to play the Grand Ole Opry and Ryman auditorium...Jamie
has played both, 7 times to date. He has also enjoyed playing in the session
world as well.
"Some people look back and point to a moment they had early in
life, a turning point, an "ah-ha moment". Not me...all of my
life, music has always been another member of my family, a friend and
comfort, sometimes like no other."
- Jamie Michael
