Jakob Morelli - An old soul of music.
Jakob has been creating music for as long as he and his family can recall. He is a 3rd generation professional musician who learned the ways of the trade through his father and grandfather, Jack Morelli. As a youngster, his dad would bring Jakob into the local esablishments to sing and play the blues, while a cowboy hat would be filled up with his video game money! Also, in his musical family is godfather Howie Blauvelt, forming member of Ram Jam (Black Betty), and a member of the Hassels with Billy Joel. He has taken these influences and become a songwriter, engineer, producer, instructor, studio musician, and international performer.

Jakob has toured with several bands, playing in front of the tens of thousands of people. He has had the great honor of playing on the same bill with Richie Havens, Bernie Worell, Toots and the Maytalls, Bela Fleck, Jerry Gracia Band, Bo Didley, Los Lobos, Zap Mama, and most recently, the Roots. He has performed with members of Incubus, Roots, Suicidal Tendencies, T.M. Stevens, Miles Davis, Bilal, Jaguar, Floetry, and Jill Scott.

Jakob has been a music educator since 1990 and is currently on staff as a guitar instructor at the acclaimed Music Workshop in Philadelphia. his personal studies have had a focus on Jazz Improvisation, and Studio Recording Technology.

Currently, when duty is not alling from on of his many live projects, he is sure to be creating, and recording material for a variety of artists. He recently collaborated with producers, Vidal and Dre, who have done tracks for Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, and Beyonce, amongst others. A record was also recently finished with one of his projects, Brass Heaven, which includes guest appearances by Gerald Veasley, Kindred, Floetry, Musiq, and Darrius Rucker.

Brass Heaven, which features Jakob on guitar, alongside a drummer and 10 horns, will be going on tour with the Roots this fall. Brass Heaven just ferformed at Radio City Music Hall with the Roots, Mos Def, Erykah Badu, Jay Z, and others. He also plays for the one and only Lady Alma, who will be touring throught Europe this summer. Jakob is quickly becoming a "go to" fixture of the Phiadelphia scene, and is very blessed to have found his path within music.
