The EP44/54 features a 3-piece curly maple body separated by thin strips of mahogany. The patented neck joint takes the hard maple of a neck thru out of the sound equation and allows the body of the bass to develop the sound instead of hard maple; this gives a smooth, well balanced tone. The neck joint is extremely solid, allowing for excellent transfer of sound from neck to body resulting in a good sustain with smooth pitch as the string decays. (Especially noticable on our low B string) The 44/54 is an upgraded version of the EP series, but has the same sound characteristics of the other versions. Optional wiring is available, from passive to studio active.
